WORLD’S SCULLING CHAMPION.
Dargaville, January 7. The Mayor, Mr Ilornblow, has received a cable from W. McDevitt, the oarsman, stating that through the retirement of Paddon the title of world’s champion reverts to him and asking Air Hornblow if the offer to provide a purse for a race for the world’s championship on the Northern Wairoa River still! holds good. Mr Hornblow is now seeking support, and is meeting with a fair measure of success. He will reply to McDevitt at the end of the week.
