Manawatu Herald TUESDAY, DECEMBER. 23, 1924 THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE SEASON.
WHAT memories of* childhood the word Christmas recalls! We associate it. with glad reunions of the fast receding past and as the youngsters make merry during the festive season we become rejuvenated and make merry with them. Still, there are happy memories. If is a. time of peace and goodwill. The Message affords the opportunity for a time at least, to enter into the spirit of good will and to pave the way to closer friendships and to remove the barriers of misunderstanding which (end to estrangement. The hand of friendship is extended and the door is open to make the lot of "some one happy. Selfishness is a ghoul to be shunned, and sweet charily a welcome guest. The people of this Dominion have every reason to he happy and contented. It is a land of plenty and prosperity. We know nothing of the poverty and distress which is associated with the old lands. Christmas greets us here in bright summer time when the e;ystth produces its fulness—in marked contrast to (lie condition of things in the northern hemisphere. Prosperity smiles upon this portion of the glorious Empire of which we form apart, which should he re T fleeted in the happiness of the people. It’s a poor heart that does not rejoice and we hope that'*!here will be few such, at tin's time. In the overflow may we give some thought; to the sick and distressed. Our sincere wish to all our readers is: A Happy Christmas and “may good digestion wait on appetite and health on both.”
