ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Auckland, Yesterday. George Bail-lie, aged nineteen, when recovering his hat, which had blown off his head at Devonport, was knocked down by a motor car and died of injuries. Fanny Le R.y, aged thirty-six, a nun t ied woman, residing at Birkenhead, committed suicide this morning by drinking poison. At the inquest, it was stated that deceased had been under treatment for neurasthenia. A verdict of suicide was re turned. 1 TWO MEN KILLED AT LEVEL CROSSING. Cliri.st*-hureh, December 14 A level crossing smash, resulting in the death of two men, occurred at Burnham last night. Duncan Stuart, of Cheviot, and Edward Reeves, of Christchurch, were travelling over tiie crossing at an ordinary pace in a motor cycle and side car when the south express, travelling ai 35 miles an hour, dashed into them. Reeves was hurled over a fence and Stuart was literally tom to pieces, having been carried on the engine for about 200 yards. .The cycle and sidecar, a mass of unrecognisable iron, were thrown in the air and dropped some distance down the line. Stuart was killed instantaneously. Reeves was picked up unconscious and died in'the Christchurch hospital" later!
