CORRESPONDENCE.
(To The Editor). Sir, —Could you inform me whether the money raised for the Silver Band by the public is to be expended on uniforms and instruments straight away, and if not, how are the proceeds of the carnival to be invested. If the latter, then, sir those who contributed should have some representation as trustees of tlie fund. Ido not wish to be misunderstood, but I think some explanation should be made to save any misunderstanding. Hoping you can enlighten me and others on this subject, and thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc. CITIZEN, [THE object of the carnival was to raise funds to equip the band — the sum required for this purpose as stated at a public meeting, was about £I,OOO. The money so raised cannot be diverted to any other purpose. The Band has appointed Messrs D. TV. Robertson, Wiustanley, and J. N. Rider as trustees to admins ter the fund upon the objects for which it was raised.—-Ed. ll.]
