FIRE.

The local Fire Brigade received a call at 8.45 o’clock on Thursday evening, the location of the fire being Mr R. Hynes’ residence in Cook St. The outbreak appeared to have occured in the dining room and had a good hold when the Brigade arrived. However, a good save was made, the flames being confined mostly to the l’oom mentioned, and the ceiling. The contents .of the building were considerably damaged by smoke and,water. The insurances are £750 in the State and N.Z. Alliance companies and £350 on the furniture in the State office. The damage is estimated to be £450-to the house. The cause of the outbreak is unknown.
