SUMMER SHOW.

TOWN HALL TO-MORROW. ; The local Horticultural Society’s Summer Show will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow. Doors open from 3 to 5 ami 7 to 10 p.m. The local Horticultural Society, during its past fifteen or sixteen vears’ existence, lias done a great deal towards fostering, the cult of the beautiful in our little community and is worthy of the heartiest support of al! who are in any way interested in the cultivation of plant life.

An institution which' encourages an appreciation of the beautiful in any respect, takes its place high up among tilings educational, as well as aesthetic for in matters of agriculture, horticulture and floriculture are in a great measure contained the basic strata of society/To agriculture we turn for our world supplies of grain and root crops,.etc., to horticulture for our equally necessary fruit, awl to floriculture for the presentation of nature’s most exquisite handiwork, in a riot of col/ our blended in the most perfect manner. Back to nature, and to floriculture do we go for inspiration and unfailing direction in the blending of the-simplest or most.varied colour schemes. f

Therefore it is anticipated--that to-morrow’s Show will receive the patronage such an institution richly deserves and the weather conditions having been fairly favourable Ibis year, the exhibition will no doubt be very good. Entries close at 8 o’clock this evening; late entries up to 9 a.m. to-morrow. _ __ The following is the donation list', to date for 1924 shows: —- Mr Linklater, ALP., Mr A. Sv Easton, Mr Win. Symons 12s 6d; Miss Speirs, Mr Jack, Mrs J. W. Robinson, Mrs Trueman, Mrs Pearson, Mrs Heasman, Mr Xye, Mrs 'lyer, Mrs P. Easton, Mrs Barr, 5/eaeh. The following have donated trophies: Mrs A. S. Easton, Madame Imrie, Mr M. E. Perreau, Mr J. Colder and Air J. Walls. Prize-winners are reminded that the date for paying out prize money is on the schedule,, Tuesday, December 2nd. No further notice of this will be given. j Airs John Ross, and Airs McLaren are in charge of the cake stall, and will be pleased to receive donations towards same.
