Yesterday afternoon Fox ton and Shannon rinks met on the Levin Club’s green to contest the first round of the Triangular Shield competition. The weather conditions were not pleasant yesterday for bowling, though play was indulged in on the Terrace End green, where two rinks from the Palmerston North Club contested the right of the home club to hold the Ainslie Shield. 'l’he play throughout was remarkably close, and although the Terrace End rinks both succumbed to their opponents, their defeat was by a narrow margin.
