THE HEMP MARKET.
IHGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the 15th inst., reads: “Hemp, Manila market, quiet and values declining. ‘J’ grade, Novomber-Janu-ary shipments quoted early this week at £54 10/- sellers and at the close of the week at. £52 10/-. Output of Manila from Ist January to 31st October was 1,294,000 hales, against 1,251,000 bales for the same period last year. Stocks in Manila at 31st October were 155,000 bales, against 200,000 last year. Stocks in Great Britain: 5,884 against 19,761. New Zealand market is easier and quiet. High points, November-Janu-ary shipments, quoted at. £43; fair at £4l and value.”
