SERIOUS CHARGES.

DUNEDIN OFFENDER SENTENCED. Dunedin, November 15. Charles James Eecles, aged 23 years, on three charges of obscenity, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. Counsel contended that prison life would not cure the accused, but that he should be allowed probation in order to obtain medical treatment. Medical evidence was called in support of this view. The magistrate, iq sentencing the accused, strongly defended the present prison system of classification and segregation.
