ATTACKED BY A BULL.

FATHER RESCUED FROM • DEATH. BY TWO GALLANT BOY'S. Blenheim, Yesterday. Two little Maori boys aged about 10 and 12 years, rescued their father from almost certain death at the horns of a mad bull. They boldly attacked the infuriated animal with sticks and drove it away and ultimately secured it. Mr Jack McDonald, a Wairau native, was leading the bull down Pukaka. Valley, when it suddenly jerked itself free, and, on Mr McDonald attempting to secure the animal it lowered its head and charged. The bull’s boms pierced McDonald’s side deeply. The bull tossed him in the air, hinging him unconscious to the ground. The maddened animal again charged the prostrate man, but his

two little sons heroically rushed in to the rescue, armed only with sticks, with which they so belaboured the bull that it was driven off. They secured it by means of a nose ring before summoning assistance for their father. McDonald was conveyed to the Wairau hospital where he was found to be suffering from a wound in the side, caused by the bull's horns, and from a broken rib, together with other injuries and abrasions. Settlers throughout the district have recognised the heroic action of the two boys and steps are being taken to have their action rewarded.
