HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

At the Horticultural Society’s meeting held last evening there were present Mesdames Pearson, Ban 1 , Healey, Easton, McMurray, Miss Speirs and Messrs Poole, Christie, Revs. Peryman and Walton (in the chair).

The question of the Society’s tables qpd trestles being taken from the hall and used by anybody and everybody without permission was discussed at length. A resolution was carried to the effect that anyone wanting the use of either tables or trestles fjor social functions must apply to the hSTI manager and pay a fee of 2/6 for use of same. This rule will be strictly adhered (o. In lhe past the Society has borne the expense of repairs and renewing its property, and it is only fair that a fee be charged towards the upkeep. The Following stewards were then appointed for the coming show: — R.oses and Novice class: Misses Neylon and G. Robinson; sweet peas Mesdames Healey and Downes. Cut blooms: Mrs F. Proctor and Miss Wanklyn; decorative: Mrs G. Honore and Miss Peryman; fruit and vegetables: Messrs Whibley and Nye; fancy work: Miss Patterson; cookery and home industries: Mrs Trueman and Miss Ritchie; doorkeepers : Mr Jim Ross and Mr Whibley; cake and ice cream stall: Mrs John Ross; steward for vases: Mrs Pearson.
