OBITUARY.
John McCauley, aged 64 YEARS. There passed away at his residence, Johnston St., on Saturday morning, John McCauley, a wellknown local resident, aged 64 years. The late Ah- McCauley had been bed-ridden for about; six months prior to his death. Deceased was bcrii in Donegal, near Letterkenny, Ireland, in 18(10. AA’lien still in bis teens, in 1577, he left Glasgow and came to New Zealand, arriving at Auckland by the first steamship, the Hydespis, to visit these shores. TTe carried on mining pursuits at Coromandel and later at Reef ton for a number of years. He was one of the gang who built the tunnels oil the old .Manawatu railway line from .AWllingfon to Palmerston X. Following this, he was a coach driver at AA T oodville and ITiinferville. He retired and in 1013 settled in Foxfon. The deceased leaves a widow and daughter and two sons. The children are Miss Evelyn McCauley (Foxton). John (AA T ellinglon) and Dennis (Trentham). The internment; took place yesterday, the Rev. Father McDermott conducting flic last rites at the graveside.
