The schools throughout this district will -break up for the summer holidays on December J9th and reopen on February 3rd.

The Education Board propose "to appoint Miss Dorothy B. Browning to the position of assistant teacher ai the local Stale school, at present temporarily tilled by Mr Dooley. Miss Browning holds a C rertilirale and is at present relieving’ at Pnlmerston N.
The Radio Soeiity of (treat Britain carried a resolution congratulating the members who successfnllv established two-way radio communicat ion with New Zealand, also felicitating the Radio Society of New Zealand and Xew Zealanders who co-operated.

The production of the pantomime “Robinson Crusoe," by Mr Lester .Sinclair and Miss Winifred La France, assisted by Palmerston amatears, was staged at the Palmerston Opera Uanise on Thursday night to a crowded and delighted audience. Among those taking part were Mr W. Hooker, and Miss D. Morgan. The former as the “Demon King” was very successful, iiis two songs ‘‘The Wreck" ami “Asleep in the Deep” well suited his line baritone voice and were among the outstanding numbers on the programme. Miss Morgan ' scored a decided success with her vocal numbers. Miss La France as the “principal boy” received a great ovation, as did Lester .Sinclair in the dual roles of “Robinson Crusoe" and "the pirate.” The panto was repeated last night and the tinul performance will he given to-night.
