ENGINEER'S RETORT. At the monthly meeting of the Horowhenun Power Board, the Engineer (Mr T. Overton) reported as follows: — No. 1 AA'ire Gang have connected TO services in Fox ton Borough, also completed one high tension telegraph crossing on Fox I on-Levin lid. Transformers are now wired up on all platforms between' Levin and Shannon, and Shannon and Foxton/The main sub-stations at Otaki and Fox ton are complete. Installations. —During tlie month 150 installations have been tested and passed for payment, and 310 meters have been fitted in various installations. The total number of consumers now being supplied under temporary arrangements has readied 230. Within the lliard’s dis trict, consumers have signed up as follows: — Lighting .. 1.114 Ranges . . . • fill Industrial Motors . . 05 Milking Motors . . 07 Wafer Healers .. 01 Speaking generally, the install;! lion work is moving well. One linn however, is.behind time with their contract, and if better progress is nor made during the coming week. I would like authority to arrange possible with another linn to take over some of their jobs. In moving the adoption of the report, the chairman said lie was pleased to se.e that some current had been made available to Levin. The lights bad completely altered !i. appearance of the streets and on the whole were very satisfactory. He understood that Group eoi/racls were being called for Paekakariki and Paraparatimu, and these would shortly be let, so that the Board would be able to supply power soili It o! The Engineer staled that at firesent the Board was only dealing with a pressure of 3,000 suits. Even in Levin this was not very satisfactory. If they were to take it to Otaki it would lie only a glimmer. Mr Ross said that he had also had complaints from Foxton residents. He was glad to hear that there was a definite probability of receiving the power about the end of the month, and lie thought tliai this should relieve any feeling which might be felt on this point.
