S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY SITTING. The ordinary monthly sitting of the S.M. Court was held in the Court House yesterday before Mr J. l. stout, sir. BREACH OF SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT. T.ni Key and Lai Tai (Mr Bergin) each charged with failing to close their business promises on the statutory half-holiday, were fined £2 with costs 7/- each. For a broach of the award in his failure to keep proper hooks and failure to display the schedule of duties in a conspicuous place, \Y. Kirkland, licensee of Whyte's Hotel, was fined £2 on one charge and £3 on the other. BY-LAW CASES.
For speeding within the Borough, John Burns, John E. Gaisford, W(illinm Winn, R. 11. Fraser and 11. S. D’Ath were each fined £2 with costs 7/-. MV Bergin appeared for the Corpora lion in each of the cases, all of ivhich were undefended. WANDERING STOCK.
For allowing stock to wander on tbe County Roads, John Nelson was fined 5/- with costs 12/(1. For failing to register a dog, R. Larkins Was fined 5/- with costs £1 0/0. CIVIL CASES. Judgment, was given for plaintiff by default in the following cases. — Foxton Borough Council v. Richard Hrtre-Long, £1 17/0, costs 8/-; Gabriel Sassien v. G. Pa para, £2 7/-, costs £1 10/0: J. M. Thomson v. L. McMinn, £l7 14/0, costs £1 3/-; A. and J. Evans v. Yec Lee, £lO 6/~, costs £2 10/-. F. S. Easton v. same, £3O, costs £4 4/0. JUDGMENT SI’MMONSES. W. Winiata was ordered to pay the Foxton Motor and Engineering Co. Ltd. £0 17/0 on or before the 21st day November, 1024, in default seven days' imprisonment. Kero Homa Koiri was ordered to pay Te A tun Renata Ropilia £7l 12/0 forthwith, in default 28 days imprisonment, warrant suspended so long as defendant pays £1 per month. first payment on 31st October, ! 1*24.
