The Croud Orchestra, having finished its Overture, the curtain is raised depicting a picturesque stage; the Baud taking up tlie rear in pyramid style. Coloured ribbons, denoting the Queen colours are seen -trelehed across lim front ot the stage fastened from either side, representing a musical stave hearing a treble deli' signature and musical notes, iorming some appropriate lettering as “Band Carnival." The Pyramid Baud will immediately play The National Anthem -while the audience will rise and sing at the conclusion of which the Mayor wdl call upon the Mayoress to break asundei the coloured ribln a clave and declare "Carnival lime open. The order of the speakers shall lie designated by the alphabetical order'of what the Queen Candidate stands for. for instance the representative speaker for the Citizens’ Queen is C and lie will appear first. lie shall extol the qualifications of his Queen Candidate and make his best appeal on her behalf for a victorious voting during “Carnival Time.” He then moves to the side wings of the stage and therefrom gracefully escorts his Queen Candidate by her hand to the front centre of the stage, then bowing, lie introduces her to the audience. Attached to the Queen Candidate is a ribbon streamer of her chosen colour, lbo other end of which is held by her secretary, who comes in view near the side of the stage wings, a distance from the Queen and speaker. The Queen Candidate, having inode her debut, the speaker escorts her to her scat and seals himself beside her whilst the secretary, still holding ihe coloured ribbon, lake.- his place in a standing position immediately behind them. The secretary, representing the first Queen, then comes towards the box, still holding the coloured ribbon, he draws a number from the b«»x, which is being supervi-ed hy the .Mayor. Having drawn his number, he moves towards the Mayoress, who hands to him an article corresponding in number in the ticker drawn. The secretary returns to his Queen Candidate and, bowing gacefully, presents her with the article drawn for gucs.-iug compel it ions during the Carnival Time.
