Yc.-.ierduy afternoon the first match for the Xyo Ferns was played between the two rinks drawn in accordance with the new rule governing these trophies. The result was as follows: — _ Hollings. Winstanley. Thomson, Walker (s) 23; Powell, Spring, Downes, Smith, (s) 11. Entries are wanted for the Ailford Cup rinks contest, which will shortly be commenced. A pairs tournament will be held, on the local green on Monday next, Labour Day, commencing at 9 a.in. Bulls green will be officially opened on Wednesday next, weather permitting. Bowlers wishing to make the trip should hand in their names forthwith.
