CARNIVAL NOTES.
(Published by Arrangement.) The Farmers’ have nominated Miss Avis Satherley as their Queen. They wish to remind the public that they will hold a Shop Day on Saturday, November Bth. * * * Local Trading.—Committees are emphatically asked to observe where possible, that any cash to be spent in connection with the Carnival, must be spent with our own business men, in our own town. * * * Queens' Introduction Concert on Friday evening. Musical programme to follow. Dress circle 2/-, Stalls /-. Box plan at Heath’s. No extra charge for booking. * * * All notified members of the special Orchestra for Queens' Introduction night are asked to attend practice this evening in the Presbyterian Sunday School room at 7.30.
Bravo, Fire Brigade! A true fireman is always first on the scene. Big shop day for Fire Brigade Queen on Saturday. Kindly supporters are asked to forward donations and supplies for the shop day. Get busy.
Big Opening Ceremony in Main Street on Saturday afternoon. Mayoress will cut streamers stretched across Main Street. Band playing. Balloons flying, everybody happy. Highland Pipe Band from Wanganui will also parade. Monster Highland Concert, Town Hall Monday night in aid of Fire Brigade Queen. Foxton Choral Society assisting. Big Dance to follow. See the “Kilts.” “Cold with the Kilt?” “Kill with the cold.” Box plan already at Heath's. * * All Committees are into it now, busy with preparations for a good kick-off after the Opening Ceremony * * * Right is 'Might and True Blue will fight, supported by the Loyal Army of Sports, so look out on Saturday. The Sports Queen and her Allies have long range guns. * * * Committees are asked to forward dates of their various stunts to the Organiser as early as possible, so that they can have the advantage of advertising in the Carnival column. * * The Lost, Stolen or Strayed article has returned. She thanks the writer for kind enquiries. * * * The Lady with the apron strings will be pleased to interview the writer with regard to “pussy and string" question.
