DEMAND FOR FINE WOOL
CAUSES JUMP IN TAILORS’ PRICES. London, October sth. Londoners must pay higher prices for underwear, suits, and overcoats, owing to the shortage in the wool clip. There is a. great demand for high-class merino. Tailors are experiencing difficulty in getting cloth, and are paying the manufacturers 20 per cent, more than in 1023. Manufacturers are refusing quotations for forward delivery owing to the continuous rise in wool prices. Tailors have advanced their prices by 20 per cent. Overcoats cost eight guineas, and cheap quality suits seven guineas, and good cashmere cloth suits nine and a, half guineas. W'esfc End tailors are charging 14 ami .15 guineas for suits. Mr C. Ilardie. Tailor, Ross’ Buildings (upstairs), Foxton, informs us Hint the result of the rise in prices in England is already making itself fell in the Dominion, the merchants having advanced- their pi j,-cs aerordingh.
