X.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP regatta
IS HOROWHENUA LAKE SUITABLE? The suggestion had been put forward that the annual regatta championships should he vowed on the Horowhemui Lake at Levin this year. The Regatta Committee has been in communication with a number of local bodies at Levin, with a view of ascertaining to what extent their support may be relied upon in the event of the suggestion being given effect to. The committee has innv been requested to inspect the tiiko to ascertain if it is suitable for the purpose in view, and a special commit tee of five will make the (rip during list' week-end. Hamilton is also anxious that the event should be rowed there, but the Horowhenua Lake would prove most suitable from the Wellington point of view, if it lends itself to the requirements of rowing. A number of Wellington oarsmen are of opinion that it will prove too shallow for regalia purposes, bul the committee will be able to determine if such is I lie case or not.
