CHEAPER TOBACCO.

Resolutions passed by the House on Thursday night have the effect of reducing- the duty on cut and plug- tobacco by 8d per lb. The reduction takes effect from January 17, so ns to allow retailers and others to clear stocks. The new duties for New Zealand tobacco are to be 1/8 per lb .on cut tobacco and 1/6 on other.
