WHO ARE THE MILITARISTS?
Peg:—The Socialist “peace ar any pi ice” advocates cry about Miliraryism as if all who do not lend themselves to support of their party designs were thirsting for war and bloodshed. Point: —This is all tosh. The British people do not want war. Neither do the people of New Zealand. They want “peace with security.” Cable from London 29th May 1924: —“Mr -Stephen Walsh, Secretary for the war, in a written answer in the House of Commons, said that, excluding the colonial armies, the present military strength of the chief powers were: — Russia, 1,003,000; France, 732,o 00: Switzerland, 500,000; Italy, 250,000; Poland, 250,000; Spain, 240,000; Britain, 150,000; Netherlands, 103,000; Germany. 100,000.
