On Saturday last the Fox lon Rugby Longue Senior team journeyed to Shannon where they played the newly formed Shannon Rugby League team. The game was played on the Domain in heavy rain. Shannon placed a strong team in the field and both spells were evenly contested, the half-time score being 5 —3 in favour of Foxton; a try by Kirkland, which he converted from a difficult angle, whilst Robinson crossed for Shannon after a good dribbling rush, Kepi a’s attempt at goal fading. In the second spell play improved, both teams indulging in good passing bouts in spite of the greasy ball. In this spell O’Reilly scored from a fast follow-up and Kirkland crossed for the second time. The latter player failed at both attempts at conversion. Lenihan scored for Shannon, being a prominent player throughout. The kick failed. There was a large attendance to witness the game.
