The President gave a brief outline of the proceedings at the conference of local bodies held recently for the purpose of resuscitating the Levin-Marton Railway League. He stated that the Minister’s recent statement to the Levin Chamber of Commerce indicated that there was little hope of the Government giving the matter consideration at present. ■sssive ideas. A. communication was received u-om the Shannon Borough Council soliciting .a donation in aid of a ceremony to celebrate the switching on of the electric current from Mangahao. —Members were of opinion (bat such an event should emanate from the Government or Power Boards to be served. The President and secretary were appointed to wait on the postmaster and endeavour to get an extension of the Sunday telephone hours. A deputation was set up to wait on the Borough Council to-urge the tar-sealing of the road leading to and from Main St., as through traffic was being diverted from the town.
