HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
At the committee meeting of the above, held last evening, there were present : Rev. \V. H. Walton, in the chair, and Messrs Christie, Chrystali, Jas. Ross, Rev. Peryman, Mesdames Baker, Barr, Healey, P. Easton, McMurray, Miss.Speirs and the secretary (Mrs Moore). Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Procter and Mr McMurray. The infinites of the previous meeting were read and confirmed The balance-sheet of the Spring Show was read and discussed. It was considered satisfactory as expotises had been cleared. The show it.-elf was deemed a decided success there being sixty more entries than last year, as well as the school work. The prize money to be paid out amounted to £2O 2/- and other expenses £lO 4/0. It was decided to purchase three dozen tin vases before next show to replace broken glass ones. ll was suggested that a talk oy bulbs and their culture would be of interest and help to many people, who were taking a pleasure in their gardens and who do not understand how to classify and distinguish one ass of bulb from another. The lit v. Peryman and AD- Murphy have agreed to deliver aud illustrate a lecture on the subject on Wednesday, Ist October, in All Saints' schoolroom. Accounts amounting to £3b‘ ti/6 were passed for payment. A vote of thanks to Airs John Ross and Airs McLaren was passed for their help with the cake stall. Their efforts realised a profit of £5 1/10 to the Society. Alessages of sympathy were extended to Airs Heasman and family and to AD Poole in their recent bereavements.
