SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Im-al State School Committee was held last night. There were present: Messrs Hornhlnw (Cehairman), Jno. Ross, Cowley, Parkin, Perreau. A. N. Smith, and Rangiheuea (Sec etarv). The Chairman extended a welcome tii the new headmaster, Mr F. Mason, and assured him of the hearty co-operation of the Committee in all that pertained to the environment of the school and the .educational welfare of the pupils. Mr Mason, in acknowledging Ihe welcome, said he would give of his best, and so far as he was concerned, there would he no cause for discord. Correspondence was read from the Board, confirming the appointment of Mr R. S. Warrick, as firstassistant, and stating that he would take up his duties as from October Ist.
From same, asking for a return of expenditure for twelve months based on the quarter ending June 30tli. —Supplied. From same, re establishment of District High School and stating that the Council of Education had deferred the matter pending further information. —Resolved that the Chairman wait on the Minister for Education in connection with the request. From same, re subsidies. —Headjinaster to draw up a schedule of permanent works upon which subsidies are payable. Accounts totalling £l2 18/7 were passed for payment. The headmaster’s report was rend and adopted and certain, minor requirements contained therein referred to the visitors for the month with power to aid. s Messrs Parkin and Perreau were appointed visitors for the month.
