SUCCESSFUL FUMIGATING EXPERIMENT. WITH 81-SULPHIDE. An experiment in fumigating rabbit burrows with bi-sulphide for the destruction of rabbits in sandy country was made at Mr Raikes property, Oroua Downs, on Monday last by Mr Barron, rabbit inspector under the Manawatu Board and he states that the experiment has been entirely successful. A sandy ridge was selected which

harboured large colonies of the bunny family. The numerous outlets were earthed in except those through which the poisonous vapour was to he injected. After this process all holes were covered. Inspections have since been made by Mr Barron accompanied by Mr Rankin, stock inspector, hut no evidences of escape were discovered and it is confidently anticipated that the fumigation was entirely successful and that ail rabbits within the area Were killed.
