WESTPORT SOLICITOR.
CHARGED WITH MALPRACTICE IN HOUSE. Wellington. Yesterday. While speaking in the House tonighl, Mr Holland asked if the Alin--DDr of Justice would have investigation made into certain doings of m Westport solicitor, who hold office inider the Crown. The accusations were of making charges which it
was not considered he was entitled to make, and of failing to pay over certain moneys to one of his clients. The latter was said (o he a feebleminded man who a t one si age underwent a term of imprisonment for vagrancy, while the solicitor, who set in f lic Court during the hearing of the case against him, was in charge of a substantial sum of money belonging to him.
AD Parr, Afinister of Justice, said ii would have been fairer had AD Holland referred the matter to him before mentioning it in (he House. AD Holland took a grave responsibility in making charges against a man who could not: defend himself in the House. Mr Holland: “I am prepared to make them outside.” AD Parr: “T think yon ought to.” Mr Holland: “Will you have an investigation made?” Air Parr: “Certainly.”
