FOXTOX CLUB MATTERS DISCI'S SED.
AN UNOFFICIAL TELEGRAM. * CLUB SECRETARY ASKED TO EXPLAIN. The weekly meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held at Levin im Tuesday evening, Mr H. Hutchins presiding. Also present were; Messrs Austin, O’Connor, F. Robinson, Ditnock, O’Rourke, Rammer. Nash and the secretary, Mr L. S. Carmichael.
’l’lie chairman made an explanation in regard to the telegram received by the Union to the effect thai the Fox lon Club intended to withdraw from the Nash Clip c-oni-peiition. He stated that the secrelary of the Club sent the wire at the instigation of a section of the Club but without Hie authority of the Club as a body. The wire was absolutely unofficial. The secretary asked if it was then a fad that the Foxton Club had not withdrawn from the competition. The Union had received a telegram which was nol contradicted, and the Club concurred in the purport of the telegram hy aciing as if it were genuine. The matter was discussed at length. it being finally decided that the members of the Union journey to Foxton on Friday evening next, to confer with the Foxton club. A motion was also carried that the secretary of the Club be asked to furnish an explanation of the matter to the Union.
