WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.
MEETING AT MARTON.
The regular meeting of the Presbytery of Wanganui was held at Morton, on Tuesday, when there was a large representation of charges. The Rev. F. McDonald, Moderator," occupied the chair. FOXTON CHARGE. Rev. J. H. Breclin on behalf of the committee set up to inquire into the advisability of forming the country districts in the Foxton charge along with Tiakitahuna and Kiiiranga into a home mission charge. reported favourably upon the proposed change. Rev. F. McDonald stated that there would be financial difficulty at firs), entailing sacrifices on the part of both minister and people. He was prepared to do his share, and he had no doubt that the matter would work out satisfactorily. Mr Jno. Ross, of Foxton. supported the previous speaker. Mr Wilton, of Rangiotu, in speaking for the country districts, said that they were agreeable to the separation of the charge. He was sure that there could be a strong mission station formed in the district provided a good man was sent to work it up. It, was just a matter of ad justment of assets and liabilities. Mr Johnston, of Glen Oroua, also spoke. ; Rev. G. T. Brown pointed out, that the voice of St. Andrew’s deacons’ court should he heard in the matter before any definite steps were taken, and also that a meeting of the Foxton committee with representatives of the country districts, should he held in order to come to some agreement, about financial arrangements. He moved that the matter be referred hack to the commission for further consideration and report. This was carried.
