TRAGIC SUDDEN DEATH.
OF AVELT,-KNOWN SANT)ON RESIDENT.
FATAL SEIZURE DURING A LODGE MEETING.
AH Jo)m Cock-burn, a well-known Snndon resident, was taken with a sudden seizure while in attendance a I a local Masonic Lodge meeting on Tuesday evening. Medical aid was immediately summoned and deceased was removed to the resident re of Mrs .1. M. Thomson, Ravens worth Place and his family communicated with. Deceased passed peacefully away a few hours later.
The deceased was a son of the lale Mr Alex Ooekburn, of Snndon and was f 53 years of age and lie leaves a widow and four r-otis and one daughter to mourn their loss. The youngest of the family is a son 10 years of age. The deceased, in eompany with members of Lodge Rangitikei. mo-b-rod through to pay a fraternal visit and to take part in the loeal Lodge meeting. ITo had been in indifferent health for some time, but made no complaint of feeling unwell tip to tlie time of his sudden seizure. The late Air Cockburn was a-' well-known and highly esteemed resident of Snndon, a man of quiet demeanour, but one who gave hts services willingly in local deserving affairs. For many years he was eon reeled with the school committee, and was secretary of the Town Hall trustees. He was a devoted member of the Masonic craft and at the time of his death was an officer of Lodge Rangitikei. The internment took place at the Sanson cemetery this afternoon, where a large number of mourners assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to his memory. The Masonic brethren throughout the district assisted in the final ceremony.
