BREAKING THE ICE.
Nowadays it seems to he the coriect thing for all sports bodies to organise a dance during the winter months. This is no doubt a good idea, affording opportunity to club members to unite in a pleasant, and popularf orm of social function, during the off season advertising the club, and incidentally adding a little to its coffers. This year the Bowling Club in cooperation with the Croquet Club have decided to follow the lead in this connection, and have arranged to hold a dance in the Town Hall on Tuesday, 12th inst. It is the in-, tention of the bowlers to make the function a most enjoyable one from all points of view, the Hall will be attractively decorated, the ladies of the Croquet Club have undertaken (under the supervision of Mrs Head) to carry out the supper arrangements and the music will be* supplied by the Blue and Whi4p Orchestra (a new combination which already has earned a reputation.) The Bowlers have planned to offer a very pleasant evening at a most moderate cost, the pxice of admission being double ticket 5/(i, gents 3/0 and ladies 2/tj Although the prices are low, nothing will be sacrificed on this account. Dancing
;ll S p.lll. All added attraction will be a euchre tournament on the stage. The stage will be specially arranged to make it cosy; and good prizes have been donated by three local business houses.
