ALLEGED ASSAULT ON SISTER.
I A DRUNKEN INTERLUDE.

In the Supreme Court Maurice 'Burns .Ward was charged with the assault of his sister so as to cause ; her actual bodily harm, also with common assault. In (lie Lower ( V-urj. proceedings 'last Thursday, Florence Ida Bolton, the woman concerned, said she did not remember the night when she deceived the injuries to the head. She remembered going out to post a letter and the next thing she remembered she was in hospital. Her brother was very drunk that evening. She was now living with him .1! had no reason to fear him. Medical evidence was given- that loss of memory might be due to her injuries. The defence was that the accused; was drunk and did not know what he-'was doing. The . jury returned a verdict of not. guilty and accused was discharged.
