At the Palmerston N. Show grounds yesterday afternoon the Manawatu reps defeated China by a goal to nil. Portions of the ground were under water and while this did not seem to worry the hefty Manawatu team. it certainly spoil defeat for the Chinese and • poilt their scievitifu- footwork and ilful passing tactics. The big soccer match, Dawbers (Palmerston N. v. Marist Brothers (Wellington), in the Chatham Cup Contest, to he played on Easton Park next Saturday, promises to attract a large crowd of spectators Seven of the players who represented Manawatu again-d China at Palmerston N. yesterday will he seen dt action against the eraek rilingj,,n team.
