FROM STOWAWAY TO MILLIONAIRE.
DEATH OF SIR ROBERT ROPNER. London, July 26. Sir Robert Ropner, the shipbuilder, left £3,015,000. The estate duties'amount to £1,468,000. Ropner was born in Prussia. His parents intended him for the Lutheran Ministry, but he stowed away and landed in England penniless and friendless. He entered the employment of a shipping otlice, and nineteen years later became sole owner of its fleet.
