An amusing incident was witnessed on the Palmerston N. railway station. A telegraph messenger w r a.s endeavouring to locate the addressee of a telegram and a new arrival to the country beckoned to him. The boy, after a few minutes’ endeavour to understand the immigrant’s dialect, gave up the attempt and turning to a companion, remarked in a disgusted tone: “It's no use, they can’t speak English."
