BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

. * COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the above society was held in the Presbyterian Sunday school-room last night, presided over by Mr M. E. Perreau (President). There were also present Mrs Moore and Messrs Christie, Walton and Dimmer (secretary). A letter was read from the Borough Council, making donation of no to the society a fid offering a picture benefit on September Ist to help augment the funds. It was decided to try and have the date of the benefit altered to August (sth. ARBOR DAY. It was resolved to observe August (sth as an arbor day locally. Tt was decided to canvass the town for any gifts of' plants or shrubs for planting on that day. Decided to draw up schedule of duties for caretaker. Accounts amounting to £5 3/6 were passed for payment. It was decided that the picture benefit take the form of a 2/- cabaret.
