MILLION LOAN FOR STATE ADVANCES.
Wellington, July 22. The Hun. W. F. Massey states that the million loan notified yesterday is for the State Advances Department. He had placed an order for this some Lime ago, and was pleased to find it had been secured -on the same favourable terms as the live million loan floated in May. There was a difficulty in the way of transferring the money to New Zealand on account of the high rate of exchange. It would therefore be invested in London for some little time m short-dated loans.
