THE HEMP MARKET.

JUNE GRADING RETURNS. The following is the returns for hemp, two, stripper-tow, and strip-per-slips graded oaring the month of June, which have just been issued from the Department of Agriculture. Hemp.—The total number of bales graded was 3,886, as compared with 3,412 for the corresponding month last year, an increase of 4/4 bales. For the 12 months ended 30th June, 1024, 66,356 bales were graded, as against 59,466 for the previous 12 months, an increase of 0,800 bales. Tow. —During the month 930 bales were graded as against 840 in June 1923, an increase of 84 bales. For the 12 months ended 30th June, 1024, 15,787 hales were graded compared with 15,450 for the previous 12 months, an increase of 337 bales. Stripper-tow. —During the month 58 bales were graded compared with nil in 1023.

Stripper-slips. —During the month 71 bales were graded as against nil in June, 1023. The following is the detailed particulars of the hemp graded:— Good High

The number of bales graded at each port was as follows: — Auckland 364, Foxton 1,221, Wairoa 171, Wellington 1,366, Pieton 48, Blenheim 103, Lyttelton 40, Port Chalmers 167, Dunedin 102, Pin If 205. The total number of bales in each grade, with the number for the corresponding period of last year in parenthesis, was as follows: — Fine nil (53); good fair 415 (220) high fair 2,255 (1,914); fair, 000 (987); common 144 (148), rejected 72 (43), condemned 1 (47). Fourteen bales at Auckland, 20 at Foxton, 14 at Wellington, 15 at Blenheim were rejected. One bale at. Auckland was condemned. The following is the detailed particulars of the tow graded :

Right bales at Auckland, seven at Wellington and four at Bluff were condemned. The following allows the number of bales graded at each port Auckland -IS, Foxton 11)5, Wniroa 3-1. Welinglon 265, Pieton 111, Blenheim 41, Lyttelton 123, Pi. Chalmers 23, Dunedin 31. Bluff 151.

The following gives the number of hales in each grade, the number for the corresponding month of last year being given in parenthesis:— First grade 143 (276), 2nd grade 706 (-178), 3rd grade 62 (53), condemned 1.9 (30). Stripper Tow. —Eighteen hales at Wellington were graded Ist grade: 30 hales at Wniroa and 10 hales at Wellington were graded 2nd grade. Stripper Slips.—Twenty-six bales at the Bluff were graded Ist grade; two at Auckland, 10 at Foxton and seven at Bluff were graded 2nd grade and 14 at Lyttelton and 12 at Bluff were passed for export. No stripper slips were graded in June of lasf year.
