LONDON WOOL SALES.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated the 2nd inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : “Wool: —Sales opened yesterday (Tuesday). Attendance was exceptionally large and competition generally active. Values of crossbred declined five per cent, and similar decline was noticeable in other sorts except for Merino which was live per cent, to ten per cent cheaper.” We are informed that Mr l'\ A. Mason, who has been appointed headmaster of the local State school, will not be able to take up his duties until early in September. .Mr Mason is at present on the staff of the Hull District High school.
