PARLIAMENT.
AMENDMENT to ADORES,S-TN-EEPLY. On Thursday, Mr Wilfovd, leader of tin- Opposition, moved the following amendment to the Address-in-Reply: — "We feel it, however, to lie our dutto submit to Your Excellency, that Your Excellency's oGvernment (iocs not possess the confidence of the House or the country as it has failed to place upon the Statute Look legislation dealing with extension of the pensions system (to include pensions for the blind and invalided), and has failed to adequately provide for housing and unemployment, or to meet the requirements of farmers and workers for financial assistance, to help soldiers in cases of hardship ,l<> provide assistance in maternity cases, to make provision for medical and dental treatment for hack block settler*, to establish Stale hanks and agricultural hanks to deal with trusts, monopolies and combines, to revise the Workers Compensation Act. with respect to increased rate of compensations and medical allowance, to revise the railway tariff in the interest of primary producers and secondary industries of the country, to make practical provision for agricultural education, and generally has failed to promote social, humanitarian, and other reforms which make for the welfare of the people as a whole.’''
The debate was continued by the Hon. Downie Stewart, who defended tlie Government, Mr T. K. Sidey, Sir John Luke, Mr E. A. Hansom, and others, excepting the Labour members. Messrs Buddo and Masters continued the debate yesterday.
