FOOTBALL.

ALL BLACKS OK 100;' AND 1.924,

The 1924 All Blacks with the exception of several members who are not taking part-in the preliminary tour, are now on route to Sydney to make a start with engagements which will keep them moving for nearly eight months. The tour is much on a par with that which was undertaken by the original All Blacks nineteen years ago. but, it may be recognised as being of greater importance. It will be the aim of these All Blacks to emulate the deeds of' the famous team of 1905, and every effort will be put forward to heat the record of the late D. Gallahor’s team. These 1924 All Blacks have a tremendous task in front of ihem, too great, it seems, (says “Drop Kick” in the Evening Dost) for them to come through with a record that will read more favourably than that, of the 1905 team. Just how great is their task in ay be seen from the following record of the original All Blacks, but also to be taken in consideration is the fact that rugby is generally accepted to be of much higher standard at Home than it was in 1905-0:

The team played 32 games in the United Kingdom, " winning 31 and losing one. The total points weto. For 830; against 39. Several games were played in New Zealand before, leaving for England, the team sustaining one detent at the hands ot Wellington, by 3 points to nib One game was played against France, the All Blacks winning bv 38 points to 8. Two games against British b ulunihia were also won —13 to 0 and (if, to (i. in an exhibition game in New Tmk the All Blacks were victorious by 40 points to 13. In all matches played overseas excluding those in Australia the team scored 1,022 points, and only 72 points were registered against it. < an the 1924 All Blacks heat that record.'
