FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Boat’d was held in the Board’s room on Saturday afternoon. Present: J. Linklater, Esq., AI.P.. (chairman) and Messrs J. A. Nash, ALP.. J. Chrystall, W. Signal and W. E. Barber. An apologv for ab-ence was received from Mr E. R. B. Holben.
CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows: From the Foxton Racing Club offering the use of a room in the elnb’s buildings, Main St. —Decided to accept offer provided rent does not exceed that at present paid for a room by the Board. From Messrs Ross. Rough and Co making application for a refund of £lO in connection with a payment in error of rent for a river bank section.
The secretary reported that the application was quite in order, and it was left iu the hands of Alessrs Chrystall and Signal with power to aet.
From Mrs C. Braik, of Whnkaronga stating that she is not prepared to erect a building on a recently acquired section within the time limit specified and making application for the endorsement of her lease. —Decided to cancel lease and to notify Airs Braik that a further batch of sections will shortly be on the market.
From N. I. Brown, Rongotea, staling that a letter received by him from Ihe Board re lease of a beach section Ims no reference to him whatever, the section having been transferred to Air Dustin. —Decided to communicate with Mr Dustin on this matter. From the Harbours Association notifying the Board that the ninth conference of Boards will be held in the Conference Hall. Wellington, mi Thursday I-till August, 1f)24: Received.
From A. G. Dawick, chairman of the Bench Improvement Committee, submitting application form for electric light for beach residences, to Board, and asking that the Board sign up same. —Held over. From the Marine Department asking for three audited copies of Board's accounts for year ending ,1023 for presentation to Parliament.—Left with the Secretary. From Aressrs Fleming and G'o. Ltd., Gore, asking for statistical records of oatmeal, rolled oats and other oat foods shipped inwards through the local port- for the years 1021, 1022, 1023. —Left with Secretary. ?Sfll INSURANCE. Decided to increase the insurance on the Harbour Board’s shed at the wharf by. £3OO. Also decided that the Board open an insurance fund and pay half of the present insurance on the pilot launch, cutting the existing insurance with the company down by half.
PLANTING OF MARRAM GRASS
The Chairman reported that good work had been done by the contractor in planting marram grass at the Beach. He reported having inspected this work and stated that he had noticed the sand was beginning to drifi on to tiie Hat at the topi end of the Beach and consequently he had taken it upon himself to have a further patch of sand planted to stop this menace at a cost of £7 10/-. — Chairman's action endorsed. NEW LEASES. New leases were granted as follows: Board to E. Siddelis; Board to Stanley W. Wells. Accounts amounting to £OO 14/0 were passed for payment. ACCESS OVER. RAILWAY LINE. The Chairman reported that, together with Air Nash, he had waited on the General-Manager of Railways and had been successful in obtaining the right of access across the railway lines to the Board's property at the local wharf for ten years.—A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Linklater and Nash for their efforts on behalf of the Board. The remainder of the business was done “in committee.”
