S.M. COURT.

MONTHLY SITTING.

The ordinary monthly sitting of the S.M. Court was held yesterday before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M. Phoebe Andresen and S. V. H. Arden, for failing to send their children to school, were each'fined 5/with costs 7/-. Mrs Rider, on a similar charge, was fined 2/- with costs 7/-. MILITARY OFFENDERS.

I. J. Gupwell, for failing to attend military parade, was convicted and discharged. Several other offenders, all . of whom were residing over the three miles limit, were cautioned to apply for leave in (he future and the charges against them withdrawn. BY-LAW CASES.

A young man named La Monte, for riding a bicycle without a light after dark, was fined 5/- with 7/costs. .

■ B. Walls, M. J. Campbell and T. Morgan were each fined 5/- with costs 7/- for allowing stock to wander on the roads of the Manawatu County. Mr Berry (traffic inspector) represented the County in these and other cases. J. P. Allerby, charged with a similar offence was fined £2 ■with costs 7/-. On a charge of allowing stock to wander within the borough, on the information of Y. McDowell, he was fined £3 with costs 7/-. W. R. Byrne was fined 10/- with 1 7/- costs for allowing a horse to wander and ,T. Andrews 5/- with costs 7/- on a similar charge. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was entered up for plaintiff in the following civil undefended cases: — Fox ton Racing Club (Mr Bergin) v. Peter Robinson, £6_ 9/-, costs £1 19/-; Robert Randall (Mr Hollings) V. R. Kribb, £7 costs £1 15/G. __ JUDGMENT SUMMONS.

E. G. Martin was ordered to pay J. K. Hornblow £4O 0/4 forthwith, in default ,28 days imprisonment, warrant suspended so long as defendant pays £1 per month, first payment on -Inly 18th, 1924. An application to take evidence in the case of Charles Gray v. Horace Ames (Wellington) was adjourned sine die, to be brought on after giving seven day's notice. JUVENILE COURT. A young Maori youth was brought

before the S.M. in the Juvenile Court, on a charge of the theft of a sum of money. As the police report ' was favourable, the lad was admonished and discharged.
