ALLEGED PERJURY

At the Palmerston police court on Thursday, Adolph llile, stoker, of Palmers Urn N., appeared on a charge of perjury. The charge was that on February 11, 1924, iu judicial proceedings at the hearing of a complaint by Kosalian Lillian llile, against Adolph llile for an order for maintenance, lie did assert that be had visited his wife only once during the months of November and December, 1923, and that during the daytime, such assertion being known to him to be false and intended to mislead the Court, thereby committing perjury. Evidence was given by a number of witnesses that accused had visited his wife on a number of occasions at night. Accused, who reserved his defence, pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the next sittings of the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed in' self £IOO and one surety of u like amount.
