A ROMANTIC CLAIM
YOUNG GIRL'S PARENTAGE.
The Edinburgh Court session is hearing a romantic claim. Constance Mary Lyon, aged If), shop assistant of Aberdeen, is seeking a declaration that she is-the eldest lawlid legitimate daughter of Hubert Ernest Bowes-Lyon, nephew of the Earl of St rath mo re, and therefore a cousin of the Duchess of York. The action is not being defended. The girl claims that she is thte daughter of Hubert Bowes-Lyon and Alary Smeaton born on December, l.dOl, tier birth being legitimised by her parents’ marriage in January, lt)oi>. It was stated in evidence that Miss Smeaton was boarded out as a baby with' a Mrs Collie, of Aberdeen, who received 0/- weekly. Alter Airs Collie’s decease, Lhe child was brought up by her married daughter. The claimant does not remember ever seeing her parents and she lived Lhe whole of her life in Aberdeen.
