TIU: CHEAT” AT TOWN HALL
CABARET.
Since the inauguration of the Town Hall Cabaret some fine pictures have been presented but it is questionable whether any of them would be rated higher than to-morrow evening’s eight-reel feature “The Cheat,” with Pola Negri and Jack Holt heading the cast. The theme: A beautiful luxury loving woman, trying to live the lavish life she lias been used to, spending borrowed money recklessly, till desperation drives her to a man of millions, who drives a hard bargain and tries relentlessly to collect. What did she do? What was she to do? “The Life of Rielly” comedy', Travel, add 1 News. Usual prices. On Saturday evening popular William Russell will appear in “Boston Blackie,” the story of a man who came hack. On Monday night by special arrangement with the- N.Z.Picture Supplies “The Bohemian Girl” will be screened. This feature by the same producer as “Carnival,” features Gladys Cooper, England’s most popular actress. Also in the cast are Ellon Terry, Constance Collier and Ivor Novello. ROYAL PICTURES. During his cowboy days Jack Iloxic, Universal Western star, co uld shoot as well as anv lad on the range. His quick draw and accurate aim probably saved the life of an assistant director of his company during the filming of “The Red Warning,” the picture to he screened at the Royal Theatre to-morrow night. Victor Nordlinger, assistant to Robert Bradbury, director, had dismounted to fix the latigo strap on his saddle, when preparing to shoot V scene. His horse suddenly snorted and jumpk'd. When he had sufficient-. !v recovered to protest, he observed Hoxie carelessly emptying a shell from his 45 Colt revolver. What promises lo lie one of the most successful social events of the tear will take place in the Town Hall oil Thursday, -lime sth, when a ball will be held under flu* .auspices of St. Mary’s Convent. The arrangements arc in the hands of an enthusiastic committee who intend lo leave no stone unturned to cater for the enjoyment of patrons who are expected from all parts of ,the district.
