STORMY WEATHER.
RAILWAY TRAFFIC INTERRUPTED. COASTAL SHIPPING DELAYED. Auckland, Last Night. Heavy continuous rain in Auckland prevented cargo work to-day and as the berths are all occupied, four vessels will have to anchor in the stream to-morrow. The north-east storm on the coast is very severe, delaying shipping, especially coasters.
Puhoi reports state that floodwaters are again as high as in April. Goods in the store are being removed to a place of safety. *Two slips have occurred on the railway between Auckland and Helensville, near Swanson, and have caused interruptions in the services. Passengers by afternoon trains to and from the city are transfer-ring by motor cars. North of Helensville is one bad slip and the lure is under water, A minor slip has also occurred on the Wailri line near Karangahape and a wash-out at Maugaiti on the Thames line. II is hoped the Helensville line will be clear to-morrow. The weather in this district has been very stormy during the past lew days. The easterly gale raging lias done a great deal of damage to fences, trees and gardens and the Manawatu River is rising rapidly.
