EDUCATION BOARD APPROVES
At the last meeting of the Poxton tStnle tSehooi committee a petition wav- deceived from parents whose children are quaiilied to receive semiidary education, requesting that a district, high school be established at Poxton. The petition received the unanimous support of the i omimtLcc and was forwarded on to luc Education Board for endor--1-1110111 in accordance with the pro- \ .siuns of the Act. At Wednesday's meeting the Education Board considered the petition. Mr Eraser said that the Poxton people had a very fail - claim. At present Poxton school children left home before 8.0 in the morning for Palmerston N. and got home between 0.0 and 7.0 at night. There were about 23 or 24 pupils. He moved that application be made to tilt Department. Mr Aulken said he would like to see the time when every district had a district high school. The Chief inspector, Mr C. \V. Garrard, said the Department required twenty pupils. He had been vitally interested in the movement iu Auckland, in the last three years they had increased the roll over 50 per cent. The children in towns had more advantages than children in country districts. It was decided to make the application.
