FIFTY YEARS’ RESIDENCE IN FOXTON.

Wo have received the following letter from Mrs A. M. Hood, of the Avenue, which affords us pleasure in publishing: — “JUBILEE.” “Mr Editor and friends, it may interest. you a little to know that it is fifty years this week since the late Mr Hood and myself landed in Foxlon. \Ve came from England in a sailing vessel and were one hundred days on hoard and landed on Sonnies Island on the Ist May, 1874. A few days afterwards we mine over to Wellington, then on up in the “Manawatu” steamer to Fox ton and landed at the old wharf at the hack of the Family Hotel. I have seen some trying times and many changes. Thanking you, Mr Editor, for granting me this space, —Yours faithfully, A. M. HOOD.”
